Mid-Cheshire College will soon have a new state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Winsford. Construction work has now started on our new £10m building whuch is situated on Weaver Street, next to the Town Park. Our new accommodation is being built on land kindly donated by Cheshire West & Chester council and the project has also attracted funding from the North West Development Agency.

The project was officially launched back on 2 October 2008 when Local Government Minister John Healey visited Winsford to take part in our "ground-breaking" ceremony. The minister was joined by a group of Year 9 pupils from Woodford Lodge and Verdin high schools, key partners in the project.

We hope to be in a position to take ownership of the new building in the spring of 2010 with all provision currently being delivered at the Verdin Centre transferring over. This includes Health & Social Care, Child Care, Access to Higher Education, Skills for Life, Uniformed & Public Services, Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing.

Mid-Cheshire College Principal John Reilly said:

"We've spent a number of years planning and designing the new College, working in collaboration with the local schools and other partners like the local authorities, Connexions, the LSC and the North West Development Agency".

"We're confident that this will be a first-class educational building that the people of Winsford will be very proud of."

Check out the website on a regular basis to see how the new building is progressing.
