Information for Parents, Carers and Young Lone Parents
Click here to see our essential information guide for parents/guardians of students attending Mid Cheshire College
Parents/guardians/carers will want to know that we do everything we can to ensure that students have a successful time at College. The information on our approach to ‘Safe and Well’ will give some understanding of why our success rates are among the highest in the country. Close working with parents of students aged 16-18 is crucial in achieving this.
Setting up a three-way relationship
Legally we need a student’s permission (once they are 16) to share information with their parents. Our enrolment form has a clause that we can do this, but if a student chooses to withdraw permission, we have to honour this. If a student is over 18, we are unable to share information without their express permission.
Communication with parents
Parents of students aged 16-18 when they start the course (unless permission has been withdrawn) receive reports on progress twice a year and an invitation to a ‘parents evening’ early in the Spring Term.
Young lone parents
Our Counsellor, Kirsty Halm also provides any extra support required by young lone parents attending College. If you would like to find out more you can email Kirsty at khalm@midchesh.ac.uk or Elaine mort, our pastoral Co-ordiantor and Counsellor at emort@midchesh.ac.uk.
