Facilities

Teaching & Learning

The College has excellent facilities for teaching and learning, with well-equipped learning environments in vocational areas such as Beauty Therapy, Engineering, Art & Design, Motor Vehicle, Construction and Catering. IT facilities are excellent with very high ratios of computers to students.

Sport and Recreation

The College has well resourced ‘Rec Zones' at each campus which are the hub of student out-of-class activity. Each is equipped with pool and video music entertainment. Lunchtime recreation activities are also available at Hartford and Winsford. The Rec Zone at Hartford also provides the venue for special exhibitions, meetings, plays and concerts.

Students have free access to College Fitness Centres Monday to Friday lunchtimes at Hartford and Monday to Wednesday at Winsford. Students undergo an induction programme before using the facilities, and have access to personal fitness advice. Opportunities are also available to participate in sport.

IT Facilities

The libraries all have computers that you can use to work on assignments, search for information in the eLibrary, the high quality online resources that the college subscribes to, or on the Web. We also have a Virtual Learning Environment (or VLE) that your teachers use to enhance your learning experience by including computers and the Internet in the learning process. Different teachers use the VLE in different ways including storing course information and assignments; online quizzes; interactive tools such as discussions or wikis; displays of student work; and Internet links to outside curriculum resources.

You will also be given your own password-protected space on the student network to save files which you can access from outside the College, as well as your own student email address. For more information on the topics listed in this section of the guide you will be able to go to the Student Intranet where new information is being added all the time.
