Working at the College
Mid Cheshire College is a general further education college situated in the Cheshire West and Chester district of Cheshire. The College occupies three main sites, two in Northwich and one in Winsford.
Mid Cheshire College is one of the very best-performing colleges in the country and was judged to be "Outstanding" at its last Ofsted inspection in November 2008, achieving a clean sweep of Grade 1s for all inspection categories. We offer opportunities for young people, adults and employers in almost all vocational areas and courses are available from Entry-Level to Level 5 (Foundation Degrees). Student success rates are amongst the very best in England.
Staff morale is high, with 83% of people stating that they enjoy their job (2010 Staff Survey).
Mid Cheshire College has much to offer prospective new employees:
-
We are graded by Ofsted as one of the best Further Education Colleges in the UK.
-
We are located in pleasant, semi-rural surroundings in Cheshire, with excellent road and rail links.
-
During the next two years the college will be continuing to invest in new facilities at the hartford campus, building on the success of the newly-opened campus in Winsford.
-
We have excellent rates of pay, generous employee benefits including final salary occupational pension schemes and sector-leading holiday allowances.
-
We are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to promoting equality in all its activities and aim to provide a work and study environment free from discrimination and unfair treatment.
Training and Development
The College is committed to the development of its staff. The Staff Development Unit provides development advice and short courses for all groups of staff though a variety of short courses and longer accredited qualifications. All staff are encouraged to attend courses and most are offered free of charge.
Fitness Facilities
Well-equipped gyms are available for staff use, free of charge, at both our Hartford and Winsford sites.
Catering
We offer a great range of menus to suit all tastes aiming to provide great quality and value for money.
Travel
The two main sites located at Hartford and Winsford are located in central Cheshire and have excellent road and rail links.
Contributory Pension Schemes
We offer competitive and attractive pensions packages, which is an excellent final salary pension scheme which gives you a pension linked to your length of pensionable service and your salary when you retire.
The two schemes are the Teachers Pension Scheme, and the Cheshire Pension Scheme. Participation in the schemes depends on the type of job.
Other pension benefits include immediate life cover for your beneficiaries if you die during service, and (subject to eligibility) ill health retirement benefits if due to long-term illness you are unable to go on working. More detailed pension information will be provided during the recruitment process.
Annual Leave
You will have a generous annual leave allowance that is significantly in excess of the statutory minimum and is one of the most generous allowances in the Further Education Sector.
Health and Wellbeing
Several policies and support mechanisms promote your wellbeing, including access to the Colleges Staff Occupational Health Service and Counselling Service, and a sickness pay scheme if you are absent from work due to ill health.
Work-life Balance
A number of benefits support work-life balance, and many go beyond statutory requirements. They include the right to request part-time and flexible working, maternity, paternity and adoption leave, parental leave and time off for dependants.
