FINDING YOUR CHILDCARE

Our area is well served with childcare providers and there are a number of websites which provide information on what’s available.  The following links may be useful as a starter.

If you need help in finding a provider, contact Angela Simpkin in Student Services, tel. 01606 720649, email asimpkin@midchesh.ac.uk.

Please note that the College will not be running its own nursery after July 2011.

FUNDING YOUR CHILDCARE

Students under 20 years of age
If you are under 20 at the beginning of your course, your childcare can be funded through Care to Learn.
This is a government initiative to help young parents who are caring for their own child(ren) and use an Ofsted registered childcare provider.

Students aged 20+

The following options are available:

  • Nursery Education grant which provides funding towards childcare places for children who are 3 or 4 years old.  The Funding starts in the term after they are 3 years old.
  • Extra Tax Credits.  Check your eligibility on their website, but generally you must be working 16 hours a week or more.
  • College Discretionary Childcare Fund
Students facing financial hardship who are not eligible for other sources of funding, and who use an Ofsted registered provider can apply to the College for a grant from the Discretionary Childcare Fund.  Click below for an application form which also gives details of the conditions under which a grant is made.
PLEASE NOTE – this fund is strictly limited and allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
