Becoming a Governor
Becoming a Governor
The College’s Governing Body has a maximum membership of 20 people including the Principal and Staff/Student Governors. Governors are appointed, initially, for a four-year period of office (excepting Student Governors who are appointed for a period of one academic year). At the end of this period, they may be appointed for one further four-year term.
The external members are drawn from as range of backgrounds including business, local government, the trades unions and the voluntary sector. On appointment, Governors usually sit on the full Governing Body and at least one of the Committees.
College Governors are unpaid, voluntary positions although travel expenses are payable.
